WASHINGTON D.C. (ADAMS) – Starting today (March 27, 2025), the Social Security Administration is enacting a policy change that will see it withhold 100 percent of any overpayments made to recipients. The withholding will last until the amount is repaid.
Up until now, the agency had only withheld 10% of benefits to make up for overpayments.
