FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says an arrest was made in a deadly shooting Saturday on the 400 block of West Wildwood Avenue. Police think that around 6:30 Saturday evening, 53-year-old Michael Miles shot and killed a woman who was found lying in the street.
He was arrested a few hours later and taken to a hospital for treatment of self-inflicted injuries and then taken to the Allen County Jail. Miles is charged with murder and other counts.

Initially, police released the following:
On Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, around 6:30 pm, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Wildwood Avenue in reference to a shooting. Upon their arrival, they found a female lying on the street with apparent gun-shot wounds. Medics arrived and subsequently pronounced her dead.
Currently, homicide detectives have begun their investigation starting by canvasing the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office. On Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, around 8:20 pm, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) investigated a shooting that occurred around 6:30 pm on the 400 block of W. Wildwood Avenue, where a female was shot and pronounced dead at the scene by medics. After gathering witness statements and evidence information, officers identified Michael T. Miles as the suspect.
Following diligent investigative work, officers located Miles near Bowser and McKinnie Avenues and arrested him without incident. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Allen County Coroner’s Office.
