FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle on the southeast side of the city Monday night, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
It happened just after 8 p.m. near the intersection of S. Anthony Boulevard and Lafayette Street. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later died from their injuries.
Police say that preliminary findings suggest the pedestrian was crossing the northbound lanes of S. Lafayette St. when the car, traveling through the intersection on a green light, struck them.
The driver provided medical assistance to the pedestrian until authorities arrived and is fully cooperating with the investigation – they were not hurt.
Police report that alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in the crash for the driver. The crash remains under investigation by the FWPD FACT team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a car versus a pedestrian crash just north of the intersection of S. Lafayette St. and S. Anthony Blvd on March 10, 2025, just after 8:00 pm. Officers arrived locating the crash in the northbound lanes of S. Lafayette St near S. Anthony Blvd and began to provide medical care to the pedestrian. Fort Wayne Fire Department and TRAA medics arrived to provide a higher level of care. First responders performed CPR on the pedestrian at the scene prior to the pedestrian being transported to a local hospital. The pedestrian succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing the northbound lanes of S. Lafayette St. while the car was proceeding through the intersection on a solid green light displayed on the automatic traffic signal. The driver of the car stopped and provided medical aid to the pedestrian prior to police arrival. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash for the driver of the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by the FWPD FACT team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
