FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says one person is dead and traffic remains restricted on I-69 northbound this Monday morning. According to the FWPD, it happened just before 3 a.m. close to the 313 mile marker between Coldwater Road and Auburn Road.
Police say the single vehicle involved struck the median for an unknown reason. The driver was found unconscious when first responders arrived. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
The FWPD released the following just before 5 a.m.:
On March 3rd, 2025, the Fort Wayne Police Department started receiving calls on a vehicle accident at approximately 2:50am. Early reports were that a vehicle had struck the median around the 313-mile marker on I69 northbound. When Officers arrived on scene, a male was found unconscious inside the vehicle. Medics transported the occupant to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
At this time, the inside 2 lanes of northbound traffic on I69 are closed, leaving 1 lane still open. Traffic will be congested in this area for the immediate future.
The crash remains under investigation by the FWPD FACT team and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
