FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say the death of a 60-year-old woman on the city’s south side was not connected to any crime. The woman was found dead by a friend around 12:30 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Fairfax Avenue.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On February 24, 2025, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1600 block of E. Fairfax Ave in reference to a death investigation. The Fort Wayne Police Department determined there was no foul play involved, and the death investigation was not a criminal matter.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says it is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found yesterday afternoon off Fairfax Avenue.
A call came in to dispatch just after 12:30 p.m. from someone who said they had found their friend dead.
Police say there were “no obvious signs of a crime, but there were some suspicious circumstances.”
The FWPD released the following:
The FWPD responded to the report of an unknown problem today at roughly 12:35 pm in the area of 1600 E. Fairfax Ave. A caller advised that they found their friend deceased. The FWPD located a deceased adult female at a residential property on Fairfax Ave. There were no obvious signs of a crime but there were some suspicious circumstances. All death investigations are treated as homicides until proven otherwise. The Coroner’s office will release the cause and manner of death, as well as the deceased identity pending next of kin notification. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.
