FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A teen girl who was shot and killed Monday night at the Black Pine Flats apartment complex in Fort Wayne has been identified as Sincere Thomas.
The Allen County Coroner released her identity yesterday. 16-year-old Jamir Benson is charged as an adult with murder and robbery in the case. He is held without bond at the Allen County Jail.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified and made notification to the next of kin of the deceased individual that was found on the playground at the 1100 Block of Fayette Drive, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 19:55 hours, Monday, February 10, 2025. She has been positively identified as Sincere Sole Thomas, female, Black, age 17, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a shooting at the playground and found Sincere Sole Thomas unresponsive. Three Rivers Ambulance Authority transported the decedent to a local hospital where death was pronounced shortly after arrival.
Sincere Sole Thomas’ Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound of Torso, and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Sincere Sole Thomas is the 6th Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2025.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
UPDATE (February 12, 2025):
A 16-year-old, Jamir Benson, is in the Allen County Jail and facing charges as an adult of shooting and killing a girl Monday night. Benson was arrested just before 3 a.m. yesterday and was charged with felony murder and robbery. The girl died at a hospital after she was shot at Black Pine Flats apartments around 8 p.m. Monday.
According to court documents obtained by WANE-TV, the girl was planning to meet Benson to give her a gun in exchange for shoes and asked a witness to come with her because she feared it was a setup.

On Monday, February 10th, 2025, at 1955 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded tothe 1200 block of Fayette Drive reference a shooting investigation. Upon arrival, a female victim was located suffering from a gunshot wound(s). Medical attention was provided to the victim and she was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition. Soon after arrival at the hospital, the female victim was pronounced deceased. The Fort Wayne Homicide Unit was paged out to conduct the criminal investigation. At approximately 0248 hours on 2/11/2025, the FortWayne Homicide Task Force located and arrested the male juvenile suspect. FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are investigating a shooting at Black Pine Flats Monday night that left a teenage girl hospitalized in critical condition. Police were called to the 1200 block of Fayette Drive just before 8 p.m. for the shooting at the apartment complex. The girl was found shot several times and was rushed to a hospital.

On Monday, February 10th, 2024, around 7:53 pm, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department(FWPD) were dispatched to a shooting on the 1200 block of Fayette Dr. Upon their arrival, they discovered that a female juvenile had been shot. After being taken to a hospital, the ER staff determined that her condition was critical.
There is no threat to the public. The FWPD and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office are investigating this incident.
