FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne firefighters were able to quickly contain a house fire on the city’s north side Thursday night.
Crews were called around 10:30 p.m. to the 600 block of Warwick Avenue off Coldwater Road. Upon arrival, crews saw flames coming from a front window and traced the fire to a bedroom. It took approximately 12 minutes to get control.
One person was inside at the time but managed to escape unharmed. The FWFD says that four pets – two dogs and two cats – did not survive.
The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, along with moderate water damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

FWFD responded to the report of a house fire. The first units arrived to find fire coming from a window at the front of the home. The fire was located in a bedroom and quickly extinguished.
There was one adult and four pets home when the fire started. The Adult self-evacuated prior to our arrival but he four pets perished (2 dogs and 2 cats).
The fire is under investigation at the time of this report.
FWPD, TRAA, NCC, AEP, and NIPSCO assisted at the scene.
