INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) -The Indiana House has approved a bill to allow for water-based cremation in the state. The bill was approved despite religious opposition.
Representative Mark Genda, a retired funeral director, sponsored the bill to legalize alkaline hydrolysis and add it to the state’s legal definition of cremation.
Democrats supported the legislation from the Frankfort Republican, while Republican Representative Peggy Mayfield called it “creepy.”
