FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says one person has critical injuries and another is hurt after a head-on crash Sunday night on Hillegas Road. Police were sent to the intersection of Hillegas Rd. and Stalf Ct just after 8:30.
Preliminary details suggest that a red passenger vehicle was driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic while heading northbound on Hillegas Rd. At that time, a silver passenger car was making a right turn from a local business onto southbound Hillegas Rd. It’s believed that the red car swerved into the silver car’s lane while the turn was being made, resulting in a collision.
The adult female driver of the red car is in life-threatening condition, while the driver of the silver car is listed in fair condition.
At this time, it is unclear whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. The FWPD’s Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office are handling the ongoing investigation.

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of a traffic accident with injury inthe area of Hillegas Rd. and Stalf Ct. January 26th, 2025 at roughly 8:35 pm. Preliminaryinformation indicates that a red passenger car was traveling North bound on Hillegas Rd.driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic. A silver passenger car was attempting a rightturn from a local business to go South bound on Hillegas Rd. It is believed that the red carweaved into the silver car’s lane while the silver car was attempting the right turn causing thecollision. The adult female driver of the red car is in life-threatening condition and the driverof the other vehicle is in fair condition. It is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol werefactors in the collision.Hillegas Rd. is currently closed between Coliseum Blvd. and Stalf Ct. while the traffic accidentis being investigated. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD’s Fatal AccidentCrash Team and the Allen County’s Prosecutor’s Office.
