FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control is thanking the BISSELL Pet Foundation for its help in finding home for 100s of animals in our area.
Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control participated along with more than 400 shelters in 45 states in ‘Clear the Shelters’ events.
Those events were sponsored by BISSELL to reduce adoption fees of $50 or less per cat or dog.
FWACC released the following:
“2024 was an incredibly challenging year for saving lives, as our nation’s shelters continue to take in more pets than they are adopting out. Tens of thousands of shelter pets—of all breeds, ages, and personalities—are desperately in need of homes,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Empty the Shelters – is more than an adoption event; it’s a lifeline for shelter pets.”
2024 was life-saving with 736 animals finding homes during the Bissell adoption events at FWACC
620 Cats/Kittens
90 dogs/puppies over 6 months old
26 small animals/reptiles
Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control is thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Bissell Pet Foundation Empty the Shelters™ events.
“Bissell has been a strong supporter of FWACC and the shelters in our community, we are appreciative of their initiative to increase adoptions and find loving homes for animals in need.” said Director, Amy-Jo Sites.
BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event is the largest funded adoption event in the country. This lifesaving event began in 2016 with a goal of encouraging more families to choose adoption.
