FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Fire Department crews responded early Tuesday morning to a house fire on the northwest side of the city.
The call sent them to the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue close to Hamilton Park for reports of flames coming from the back of a home.
No one was inside when crews got to the scene. They were able to quickly gain control in around 11 minutes.
The official cause is under investigation.
The FWFD released the following:
Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to a house on fire at 0500 this morning. On arrival, first units had moderate smoke issuing from the home. Firefighters found a fire in the rear of the home, in the area of the kitchen. It was extinguished and under control in 11 minutes. No one was at home at the time of the fire.
The home had moderate fire, smoke and water damage. The fire remains under investigation.
FWFD was assisted by TRAA, NCC, FWPD, NIPSCO and AEP.
