FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man is in critical condition following a crash early Saturday morning.
The crash happened at Scott Road and Covington Road just before 1 a.m.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says it received an iPhone alert that the owner of the phone had possibly been involved in a car crash that seemed “severe” according to the data.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle approximately 60 yards off the road. Police do not yet know why the vehicle left the roadway.
Medics and the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) assisted at the scene and the man who was driving was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. His identity was not released.
This incident remains under investigation.
The FWPD released the following:
On Oct 26th 2024 at approximately 12:41am, FWPD received an IPhone alert stating the owner had possibly been in a severe vehicle accident in the area of Scott Rd and Covington Rd. Upon FWPD arrival in the area, Officers located a vehicle approximately 60 yards off the roadway. Medics and FWFD were called to the scene as medical assistance was rendered. The sole occupant male driver was transported to a local hospital with hospital with life threatening injuries.
It is believed the vehicle was traveling south on Scott Rd when it left the roadway at the intersection for an unknown reason. The incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s FACT.
