HAMILTON, Ohio (ADAMS) – An Ohio judge says the state’s six-week abortion ban is unconstitutional.
That ruling came Thursday from Hamilton County Judge Christian Jenkins who granted a permanent injunction on Ohio’s “heartbeat bill” until voters have spoken.
The bill was signed into law in April of 2019 but didn’t take effect until June 2022 when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Now, nearly a year after Ohio voters passed Issue 1, the Ohio Constitution “unequivocally protects the right to an abortion.”
