FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The City says Fort Wayne continues to grow and achieve positive results for residents and neighborhoods, with fiscal discipline at the forefront.
With that, the 2025 budget was passed by City Council last night. Initial plans called for nearly $48 million in investments for parks, neighborhoods, public safety, and development. Only about $600,000 was cut before the budget passed.
What was not in the plan was any financial help for Citilink. Multiple outlets report changes for Citilink, which runs buses and public transportation in Fort Wayne. Citilink had previously said they may need to cut service without some kind of help.
It had asked for a tax levy to supplement after seeing financial losses and lowered projections. An amended ordinance will allow Citilink to ask the City Council for money when they have gone through reserves.

Following the meeting, the following was issued on behalf of Mayor Sharon Tucker:
City Council’s passage of the 2025 civil city budget shows we’re a community on the move with a bright future ahead.
With this being my first budget as mayor, I was impressed with the attention to detail that was demonstrated by the City’s division and department heads. We share a common commitment to protecting taxpayers and meeting the needs of a community that expects and deserves excellent services.
Continued investments in neighborhood infrastructure, parks, and public safety will be top priorities to help make Fort Wayne viable and sustainable as a desirable place for individuals, families, and businesses.
While I’m disappointed by a number of party line votes on certain budget cuts, the 2025 budget is forward thinking and positions Fort Wayne for current and ongoing success.
