FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The two were from Connersville, Indiana – southeast of Indianapolis. Police have arrested 29-year-old Dominque Washington on felony murder and kidnapping charges following the bodies of 40-year-old Christina Dixon and 41-year-old Matthew Johnson being found in the St. Mary’s River.
Washington is being held without bond in the Allen County Jail. Dixon was strangled and suffocated, while Johnson was stabbed and shot in the head.

Details/Summary: On September 20, 2024, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of Michaels Ave and Van Buren St in reference to a death investigation. The two victims, identified as Christina Dixon 41yoa and Matthew Johnson 41yoa, were recovered from the St. Mary’s River. Homicide Detectives responded and conducted a criminal investigation. On September 23, 2024, 29yo Dominique M. Washington was taken into custody in Richmond, Indiana and preliminary charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Kidnapping and Failure to Report Discovery of a Body w/Intent to Hinder Investigation. The FWPD Homicide Unit was assisted on this investigation by the Vice/Narcs Division, Gang and Violent Crimes Unit, Aerial Support Unit, Indiana State Police, Richmond Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Coroner has identified the two bodies found in the St. Mary’s River last week. The two were from Connersville, Indiana – southeast of Indianapolis.
They were found by a group of community volunteers cleaning the river on Friday near the Guldlin Park Public Access Site boat ramp on Van Buren Street around 1 p.m.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office says the deaths of Christina Dixon and Matthew Johnson were homicide. Johnson had a stab and gunshot wound while Dixon had been strangled and suffocated to death.

On Friday, September 20th, 2024, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of an individual found in the St. Marys River near the 400 block of Van Buren Street, in Fort Wayne. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The person was identified as Matthew Joseph Johnson, 41, male, White, of Connersville, Indiana.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the legal next of kin. The Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound and Stab Wound, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Matthew Joseph Johnson is the 33rd homicide for Allen County in 2024.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says the remains of two bodies were found on Friday near the Guldlin Park Public Access Site boat ramp on Van Buren Street around 1 p.m.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says they were found by a group of community volunteers cleaning the river. Police say both were adults.
Officers helped police remove the remains from the river. The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office are still investigating the deaths.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating the deaths of two adults. Community volunteers were cleaning debris from the St. Mary’s River near Guldlin Park on September 20, 2024. The volunteers located the remains of two adults in the river east of the Guldlin Park boat ramp and contacted police at approximately 1:00pm. Police officers responded to the area along with the Fort Wayne Fire Department Water Rescue and Recovery Team. The fire department assisted with the removal of the remains from the river.
FWPD Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Technicians responded to the scene to investigate and collect evidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact FWPD at 260-427-1201 or Crime Stoppers using the P3 Tip App. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Officer and Coroner’s Office.
