WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The woman and three children who were found dead in a home in Wolcottville on Tuesday have been identified. The Noble County Coroner says she was 32-year-old Rebecca Hughes, and the children were eight-year-old Evelyn Newell, six-year-old Allison Newell, and five-year-old Amelia Newell. The cause of their deaths has not been released.
Jonathan Newell, the father of the young girls, has started a GoFundMe for their funeral expenses that has raised nearly $31,000. He says Rebecca, “took them with her when she passed.”

Today autopsies were conducted on the deceased adult female and three deceased children found in a residence in Wolcottville yesterday.
The Noble County Coroner has identified the deceased adult as Rebecca Hughes, 32. The three children have been identified as Evelyn Newell, 8, Allison Newell, 6, and Amelia Newell, 5.
This is an ongoing investigation. The Coroner’s Report, to include toxicology, are still pending. There is no other information to release currently.

WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A woman and three children have been found dead in a home in northeast Indiana. Indiana State Police are investigating the deaths of the four people in Wolcottville. They were found around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday when Wolcottville police were doing a welfare check at the home. Autopsies will be done today.
ISP says that evidence suggests that there is no threat to the public.

The Indiana State Police is conducting a death investigation in Wolcottville, IN after a welfare check resulted in the discovery of a deceased female and three deceased children.
On September 17, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers with the Wolcottville Police Department were dispatched to conduct a welfare check at a residence in the 100 block of South Main Street in Wolcottville, IN. While at this residence officers located a deceased adult female and three children that were also deceased. After making this discovery, the Indiana State Police was contacted.
The Indiana State Police responded with detectives and crime scene investigators. Information known to investigators and evidence gathered suggests that there is not a threat to the public.
The Noble County Coroner will make positive identification on the deceased adult female and three deceased children. Autopsies are scheduled to be performed tomorrow, September 18, 2024, at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center in Ft. Wayne, IN to determine the cause and manner of the deaths.
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Noble County Coroner’s Office.
This is an ongoing investigation and there is no other information to release.
