LAGRANGE CO. Ind. (ADAMS) – Two students have been expelled from Prairie Heights High School after making violent threats. The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office says the threats were made Saturday and they worked with the school district and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office to track down the source. The two teenagers made separate and unrelated threats, one of them in comments to classmates and the other on social media.
The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office released the following:
On September 14, 2024, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to threats made against Prairie Heights High School. In response, a coordinated investigation was launched involving the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Prairie Heights Police Department, and the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office.
Through collaborative efforts, law enforcement officials have successfully identified and addressed the juveniles responsible for making the threats. These juveniles have been expelled from Prairie Heights High School, and the criminal investigation remains active.
While it has been determined that there was no immediate threat to students and staff, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office will maintain an increased police presence at the school as a precautionary measure. This enhanced security is intended to ensure the continued safety and well-being of the school community.
