FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A motorcyclist is in critical condition following a crash Thursday morning. It happened around 6:45 a.m. Thursday near Tillman Rd and Calhoun St, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
Police say the motorcycle and an SUV were both going west when there was a “sideswipe collision.”
When officers arrived, the driver of the motorcyclist was on the ground. They were taken to a hospital in serious condition and later downgraded to life-threatening.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says that alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.

On September 12, 2024, at approximately 6:45am the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a crash between an SUV and a motorcycle near the intersection of Tillman Rd and Calhoun St. Officers arrived on-scene to find a motorcyclist down on the ground because of the crash. Officers render aid to the motorcyclist until medics arrived. The medics transported the motorcyclist to the hospital in serious condition. The motorcyclist’s condition was later downgraded to life-threatening after further diagnostic tests revealed his injuries were more serious than initially believed.
The FWPD FACT team responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The initial investigation indicates both vehicles were westbound near the intersection of the Tillman Rd and Calhoun St when a same direction sideswipe collision occurred between the vehicles. Investigators do not believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time by the FACT team.
