To accommodate Norfolk Southern’s rail work on West State Boulevard, the detour for the Spring Street water improvement project will change beginning Monday, September 9, 2024. The new daytime detour for through traffic, will use Hillegas Road to Jefferson Boulevard To Van Buren Street and Sherman Boulevard between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Crews on Spring are connecting homes to a new water main and assisting residents with replacing their private lead service line.
During construction, there will be no daytime street parking between St. Marys and Schilling Avenue. The closure is scheduled through October 17, 2024.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – City Utilities says that beginning Thursday, September 5, 2024, crews will begin connecting residents to a new water main on Spring Street. The work will close Spring to through traffic between Hillegas Road and Sherman Boulevard.
A daytime detour, between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, will use West State Boulevard, Hillegas, and Sherman will be in place through October 17, 2024. Spring will be open to traffic after 6:00 pm until the following day.
Residents in the area will have limited access, but there will be no street parking between St. Marys and Schilling Avenue during construction.
This summer, crews replaced a water main that was more than 100 years old and placed in service in 1910. The work will also help residents with a lead service line on their property to replace it.
