NOBLE CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A middle school teacher in Noble County is charged with possessing child pornography. Indiana State Police arrested 57-year-old West Noble Middle School teacher Greg Riegsecker Tuesday after an investigation found the material.
Police say there is no evidence any local children are involved in the crimes.
He has a court appearance scheduled for tomorrow at Noble Circuit Court.
Indiana State Police with the Fort Wayne Post released the following:
On August 5, 2024, detectives with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) arrested a Noble County man on alleged charges of possession of child pornography.
This investigation by the Indiana State Police ICAC Task Force began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip ultimately led to a search warrant being served by the Indiana State Police at a residence located in the 6000 block of west CR500N, Ligonier, IN.
As a result of the investigation, Greg Riegsecker, 57, of Ligonier was taken into custody and arrested on preliminary charges of: (1) count of Possession of Child Pornography, a level 5 Felony, and (2) counts of Possession of Child Pornography, both Level 6 Felonies.
Of public concern, it should be noted that Greg Riegsecker is employed as a middle school teacher at West Noble Middle School. However, it should also be noted that the investigation has not revealed any evidence at this time that would suggest any local children were involved or depicted in the alleged crimes. The investigation is ongoing.
Riegsecker was transported to the Noble County Jail and booked into the custody of jail staff pending an initial court appearance which is anticipated to take place on Wednesday, August 7th at 12:50 p.m. in the Noble Circuit Court.
The Indiana State Police oversees the ICAC Task Force, a multiagency task force that investigates allegations of using the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. The ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The NCMEC website can be accessed through the ICAC Task Force website.
During this investigation, the Indiana State Police was assisted by the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office, Noble County Sheriff’s Office, Ligonier Police Department, and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Taskforce.
*All criminal charges listed in this release are preliminary allegations only, and all suspects named are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. The Noble County Prosecutor will have the final determination on charges to be filed.
