UPDATE (August 6, 2024):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that a man has been located and arrested in a murder over the weekend. On Friday, officers were called to the 1100 block of West Fourth Street around 5:45 p.m. for a shooting that just occurred.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man in a life-threatening condition. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
The coroner identified him as 27-year-old Travon Depree Holman. His death was ruled as a homicide.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On August 2nd, 2024, at about 19:25 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting located in the 1100 block of West Fourth Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The victim was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin of Travon Depree Holman, male, Black, 27 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Travon Depree Holman is the 23rd Homicide for Allen County in 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Now, the FWPD says that the investigation pointed to Dana Minies Jr., 26, as the shooter. After working with law enforcement in Elkhart County, officers found his vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Minies was preliminarily charged with Murder, Felony Murder, and Robbery and is currently confined at the Allen County Jail.

The FWPD released the following on Monday:
On August 2, 2024, at approximately 1741 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of W. Fourth St in reference to a shooting incident. FWPD Officers arrived and located a 27yo male shooting victim who succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced deceased. FWPD Homicide Detectives conducted a criminal investigation, and Detectives identified Dana Minies Jr. 26yo as the suspect. Detectives contacted the Elkhart Police Department in reference to the suspect vehicle. At approximately 1944 hours, the Elkhart Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, and Dana Minies Jr. was taken into custody without incident. Dana Minies Jr. has preliminarily been charged with Murder, Felony Murder and Robbery and is currently confined at the Allen County Jail. The FWPD homicide Unit was assisted on this investigation by Vice/Narcotics Detectives, Gang and Violent Crime Detectives, FWPD Uniform Officers, Elkhart Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of West Fourth Street around 5:45 p.m. for a shooting that just occurred.
When officers arrived on the scene, they say they found a man in a life-threatening condition.
He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
No arrests have been made but the FWPD says there is no threat to public safety.
The shooting remains under investigation by FWPD and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

On August 2, 2024 at approximately 5:40pm, FWPD Officers responded to the area of 1100 W Fourth Street, in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. Officers arrived and found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics advised the male to be in life threatening condition and transported to a local hospital, where the victim succumbed to the injuries. No suspect is in custody at this moment.
At this time there is no on-going threat to public safety. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
