FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The American Farmland Trust and the Farmers Market Coalition has announced that YLNI Farmers Market has placed 1st in Indiana in the 2024 America’s Farmers Market Celebration.
Since 2008, the America’s Farmers Market Celebration (AFMC) has highlighted the important role farmers markets play in communities across the nation while celebrating the vendors, staff, and volunteers that make markets happen week in and week out.
The YLNI Farmers Market placed 1st in Indiana for the 3rd year in a row.
YLNI representatives released the following:
For 20 years now the YLNI Farmers Market in partnership with the History Center has been a staple on Barr Street during the summer months. From their humble beginnings in 2004 with just a handful of vendors, only 6 Saturdays, and a few hundred customers the YLNI Farmers Market has grown to host the market for 22 Saturdays with an average of 180 vendors each week and bringing thousands of customers to downtown Fort Wayne.
“Congratulations, Fort Wayne! This is a win for all of you! Each and every Saturday our community of vendors and dedicated supporters show up rain or shine to support each other. This market’s vendors and our community never cease to amaze me. Thank you Fort Wayne,” said Market Manager Ashley Wagner.
The YLNI Farmers Market is a producer-only market, meaning that our vendors personally make or grow the products they sell. Every vendor is local, coming from Allen or surrounding counties. The market is run by a small staff and volunteers who are passionate about engaging our community and supporting YLNI’s mission by creating an environment for community, professional and social engagement.
