During a traffic stop in Burbank, California on Wednesday (July 31), Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin was arrested after allegedly resisting arrest. The 52-year-old singer was apparently pulled over for a traffic violation by police, who discovered that Scantlin had an outstanding warrant related to a previous crime of allegedly having a weapon at an airport. The rock star apparently refused to get out of his Hummer H2 following several requests from law enforcement, who then called in a crisis negotiator.
Scantlin was reportedly pepper-sprayed by officers as he continued to resist arrest. After the pepper spray didn’t get Scantlin to vacate his vehicle, a SWAT team was sent in at around 4 a.m. to break his car window and shoot “non-lethal” pepper balls in order to get him to surrender. The singer was eventually taken to a hospital to flush out his eyes, before being arrested for his outstanding warrant and the new charge of resisting arrest. His court date is scheduled for Aug. 20.
