COLUMBUS, Ohio (ADAMS) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists that they need to move over for vehicles with flashing lights that are stopped along the roadway. OSHP joined troopers and state police in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia for an enforcement crackdown on the “move over law” between July 21st and 27th. Ohio troopers issued more than 500 citations to drivers who failed to get out of the nearest lane or slow down during the enforcement period. Ohio had the most tickets issued during the initiative followed by Michigan where a little over 300 motorists were cited.
OSHP released the following:
The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) joined forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project to focus on move over enforcement. During the project, 511 motorists in Ohio were issued citations for move-over violations.
