DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A DeKalb County crash on SR 8 snarled traffic for hours on Tuesday. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says it began with a driver trying to avoid an animal in the roadway.
Police were sent to the 4800 block of SR 8 between CR 47 and CR51 around 1:45 p.m. and found the vehicle turned on its side in a ditch. The driver said he tried to correct after swerving and that caused him to lose control when he tried to get back on the roadway.
The 39-year-old Fort Wayne man had hand and head injuries and was treated at the scene by medics.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says it took hours to clear the roadway and remove the vehicle described as a 2009 ‘International’.
SR 8 reopened around 5:15 p.m.
