NEW HAVEN, Ind. (ADAMS) – New Haven police are investigating a murder-suicide. A maintenance worker at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Canal Place Circle called police around 4:15 Monday afternoon after seeing a man lying on the floor.
Police say he was 61-year-old Kirk Willinger and he had been shot several times. A woman was then found inside a locked bedroom with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound and her name has not been released.
The Allen County Coroner has only released the results of the man’s autopsy.
The following was issued:
On June 3, 2024, at about 19:25 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting
investigation in the 900 block of Canal Place Circle, in New Haven, Indiana. The victim was pronounced
deceased at the scene.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin of Kirk Thomas Willinger,
male, White, 61 years of age, from New Haven, Indiana.
The Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Kirk Thomas Willinger is the 16
th Homicide for Allen County in 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the New Haven Police Department, the Indiana State Police, the
Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
