UPDATE (March 19, 2024):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that a man wanted in a recent homicide has been detained.
Police apprehended 31-year-old Thristian Boykin in a traffic stop on Sunday. He is now being held in the Allen County Jail on a murder charge, according to the FWPD.
His arrest is in connection to the March 7 in the 1200 block of Hugh Street that killed Byron Curry.
The FWPD released the following:
On 03/07/2024 at 1623 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Hugh St in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim, Byron Curry 48yoa, suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). Life-saving measures were attempted, but Mr. Curry succumbed to his wounds and was later pronounced deceased. FWPD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and conducted a criminal investigation. Homicide Detectives identified Thristian Boykin 31yoa as the suspect of the shooting and on 03/17/2024, Boykin was arrested without incident in a traffic stop. Boykin is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on preliminary charges of Murder. The Homicide Unit was assisted in the arrest by the Gang and Violent Crime Unit, Vice and Narcotics Unit, Aerial Support Unit, Uniform FWPD Officers, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office. The FWPD Homicide Unit would like to express our great appreciation to the community for all the tips that poured in that ultimately assisted in the identification and arrest of Boykin.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The FWPD is seeking information on a recent homicide. 48-year-old Byron Curry was shot and killed last week on Hugh Street. Police released a photo and said that Crime Stoppers was offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man shot and killed in a shooting near downtown Fort Wayne Thursday afternoon has been identified by the coroner. Police were called to the 1200 block of Hugh Street in the East Central neighborhood just before 4:30 p.m. and found the male victim. He died at a hospital.
Police have not announced any arrests in the case and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

The Fort Wayne Police Department received 911 calls regarding hearing shots fired in the area of the 1200 block of Hugh Street. Officers arrived and located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical assistance until Paramedics arrived. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital, to which he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives and crime scene technicians are searching the area for evidence and witnesses. This incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. The Allen County Coroner now says that 48-year-old Byron Curry was the man shot. His death was ruled as the 11th homicide in Allen County in 2024.
The following was released:
On March 7th, 2024, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting in the 1200 block of Hugh Street, in Fort Wayne. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
The victim was identified as Byron Keith Curry, 48, male, Black of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the legal next of kin. The Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Byron Keith Curry is the 11th homicide for Allen County in 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
