FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that one person is in critical condition following a crash Wednesday morning. Police believe that a man was thrown from his vehicle after crashing near North Anthony and Coliseum around 5:30 a.m.
Another motorist called police after spotting the man in a grassy area near the roadway. Right now, police do not know what caused the crash or if any other factors were at play.
The FWPD released the following:
On Wednesday February 28th 2024 at approximately 0530 hrs officers with the Fort Wayne Police Dept were dispatched to the area of N Anthony & Coliseum Blvd regarding a man down on the side of the roadway. A Passing motorist stated a male was unconscious in the grassy area near this intersection. Once on scene an adult male was found to have been ejected from a single vehicle crash just east of Anthony Blvd.
The male was transported to a local area hospital in life threatening condition. It is not yet known if speed or alcohol were a factor.
This incident remains an ongoing investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Dept Fatal Crash team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
