FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The FWPD says that two women were hurt and one is facing charges after running from cops Monday night.
The Fort Wayne Police Department says that officers tried to stop a car driving recklessly in the Jefferson and Union Street area just before 8 p.m. Police say the vehicle took off before crashing into another vehicle that was crossing on Broadway.
Two women in the fleeing vehicle were hurt in the crash. Police said both had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was arrested. She was identified as Yar Shin, 18. Police say charges are pending.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On Feb. 26th, 2024 at approximately 7:50pm a Fort Wayne Police officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving recklessly in the area of Jefferson and Union St.
The suspect vehicle refused to stop and comply initiating a pursuit. The suspect vehicle fled east on Jefferson and crashed into an unsuspected motorist traveling south on Broadway. Two women were occupants of the vehicle traveling south on Broadway and were taken to a local hospital in non life-threatening condition. The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested. She was identified as Yar Shin, 18. Police say charges are pending.
The intersection of Jefferson and Broadway is currently closed while the scene is being processed and debris cleared. The Fatal Accident Crash Team was paged to the scene and took over the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
