UPDATE (February 12, 2024):
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who was killed in a crash last week.
She died after a semi rear-ended a pickup truck she was in on Monday, February 5, close to the General Motors Fort Wayne Assembly Plant. The crash also left a man with critical injuries.
The Monday it was released that the coroner ruled the death of 81-year-old Kathleen Prince as accidental. A report says she died of blunt force injuries in the crash.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On Monday, February 5th, 2024, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash in the 12000 block of Lafayette Center Road, in Roanoke, Indiana. The passenger of the pick-up truck involved was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim was identified as Kathleen Chilson Prince, 81, female, White of Auburn, New York.
Notification has been made to the legal next of kin and an autopsy has been completed. The Cause of Death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash and the Manner of Death is Accident.
Kathleen Chilson Prince is the 1st motor vehicle fatality for Allen County in 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A semi rear-ended a pickup truck Monday afternoon outside the General Motors Fort Wayne Assembly Plant, killing a passenger of the pickup.
The truck was stopped at the intersection of Lafayette Center and Zubrick roads. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says the passenger, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. While the pickup’s driver is hospitalized in critical condition.
No names have been released, and the semi-driver was not hurt.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
On February 5, 2024, at approximately 1:56 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Lafayette Center Road at Zubrick Road, reference a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers and medics located two injured adults in a pickup truck.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a pickup truck was westbound on Lafayette Center Road, stopped at the red light for Zubrick Road. A semi tractor trailer was also westbound on Lafayette Center Road. Witnesses said the semi rear-ended the pickup truck. Both vehicles came to rest on the northwest side of the intersection, in the ditch.
The adult male driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The adult female passenger in the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male driver of the semi was not injured.
This incident remains under investigation.
