UPDATE (January 18, 2024):
The Allen County Coroner’s Office says the first two homicides in Allen County this year were teenagers. A 14-year-old was shot and killed in New Haven Friday. Then on Saturday, the coroner’s office said that Christopher Izekiel Easton, 15, died from gunshot wounds in a home off Vance Avenue. There is currently no information on a suspect in the case.
It remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner. The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On January 13th, 2024, at about 02:00 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting located in the 4900 block of Vance Avenue, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The victim was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin of Christopher Izekiel Easton, male, Black, 15 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Christopher Izekiel Easton is the 2nd Homicide for Allen County in 2024. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department are investigating a shooting just after midnight Saturday that has resulted in one death. The victim is believed to be a child according to authorities, but they have not released information on the person yet. That person was shot several times in the 4900 block of Vance Avenue.
No arrests have been announced.

The FWPD released the following:
On Saturday, January 13th, 2024, at approximately 12:05 a.m., FWPD officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Vance Avenue, reference shots being fired. Soon after, it was then reported that a male had been shot. Upon the officers’ arrival, they were told that the victim was taken to a hospital, and soon after other officers confirmed that the victim was at a hospital. There, the ER staff informed officers that the victim was shot several times. As they were doing CPR, the ER staff told officers that the male’s condition was life-threatening. Later, the male succumbed to his injuries and died. At this time, it is believed that the male was a juvenile.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner.
