FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Coroner has identified a man who died in a fire on December 23. Fort Wayne Fire Department officials say that crews went to a mobile home park on the 7500 block of Bluffton Road around 12:20 a.m. and found heavy flames coming from one of the homes.
At the time they said that the occupant of the home was not accounted for. After fighting the blaze, firefighters were able to make entry to the back of the mobile home and found the man deceased.
The coroner says the man was 56-year-old William Joseph Richardson. He died from thermal burns and smoke inhalation. Currently, the manner of his death is still pending.

On December 23rd, 2023, at about 01:03 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a fatal fire investigation located in the 7500 block of Bluffton Road, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Fort Wayne Fire Department was on scene and had battled the fire. The deceased was located inside of the trailer.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin of William Joseph Richardson, male, White, 56 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Cause of Death has been determined to be Thermal Burns and Smoke Inhalation and the Manner of Death is Pending.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Fire Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
