DETROIT, Ind. (ADAMS) – The United Auto Workers strike against all three Detroit automakers is ending with General Motors agreeing to a tentative contract agreement.
GM was the last automaker to reach the deal with the UAW, and union workers will get a 25 percent pay increase over the next four years if they ratify the deal. Cost of living adjustments will bring their raises to over 30 percent. The UAW took a new option in this strike to target all three at once but only chose specific factories.

UPDATE (October 26, 2023):
DETROIT (ADAMS) – A tentative contract agreement has been reached between the United Auto Workers and Ford.
The four-year contract needs to be ratified by the 57,000 UAW employees of Ford, and union president Shawn Fain says they won things with the deal “no one thought possible.”
Wages will go up 25 percent along with an annual cost of living increases that put the pay raise to over 30 percent.
The deal means a top-scale assembly plant worker will make over $40 dollars an hour by the end of the contract.

DETROIT (ADAMS) – The United Auto Workers Union is on strike after failing to reach a new contract with the Big Three automakers.
Thursday’s deadline passed, prompting targeted strikes against Ford, GM and Stellantis. Union president Shawn Fain said workers at three plants, one at each automaker, would be first to picket.
Those sites are in Missouri, Ohio, and Michigan.
The UAW, made up of more than 140,000 members, is seeking pay increases, a four-day work week, and the return to pension and retiree benefits.
One estimate says a strike lasting just ten days could result in a total loss nationwide of more than $5 billion dollars. Meantime, the White House said President Biden spoke to Fain and company officials about the negotiations.

DETROIT (ADAMS) – The clock is ticking toward 11:59 p.m. when the United Auto Workers union contract with Detroit’s Big Three automakers expires and strikes are expected against all companies.
UAW president Shawn Fain says they will pick and choose which plants to strike and members are expected to show up for their shifts even with an expired contract tomorrow.
Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis have all proposed ending the wage tier system in four years, but Fain wants that done in 90 days. Ford is offering the largest wage hike at 20% compared to the 46% the union wants.

DETROIT (ADAMS) – The United Auto Workers union is now just three days away from a possible strike against all three Detroit automakers.
UAW president Shawn Fain told workers on Facebook Live that he has rejected contract offers from Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis and says they have not yet offered them a fair contract.
The union wants pay raises of 46 percent, with the companies offering raises between nine and 14.5 percent.
Stellantis proposed the largest wage increase.
