FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that an arrest has been made in a decades-old murder. Dan Osborn was killed at his Subway restaurant on East State Boulevard on April 23, 1998. He was 47 at the time.
Osborn was also a confinement officer at the Allen County Jail.
The case had seemingly gone cold for years but this week police announced that they had arrested a man named Bernard McClaney, 48. He is set to be extradited to Fort Wayne from the Pendleton Correctional Facility. He is reportedly serving time there on a murder sentence.

On Friday, October 13th, 2023, 48yo Bernard McClaney, was extradited from the Pendleton Correctional Facility to Fort Wayne, Indiana on the charges of Felony Murder, Robbery Causing Death and Criminal Confinement. The arrest is in connection to the Homicide Investigation of Dan Osborn on 4/23/1998 at the Subway located at 3123 E. State Blvd. Bernard McClaney is currently being housed at the Allen County Jail. The investigation is still active and ongoing at this time.
