FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – An arrest has been made in a shooting at the Glenbrook Mall. It was the second such incident this year.
This recent shooting happened on Friday, September 1. The victim is expected to recover.
The Fort Wayne Police Department announced on Friday (September 8) that 27-year-old Quentin Lewis is now facing charges in the case.
The following was released by police:
On September 7th, 2023, Quentin Lewis was taken into custody without incident near the intersection of Crescent Ave. and State Ave. by the FWPD Gang and Violent Crimes Unit. Lewis was charged in relation to the Glenbrook Mall Shooting on 09/01/2023 with Criminal Recklessness and Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Also assisting in this investigation was the FWPD Homicide Unit and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Initially, the FWPD released the following regarding the shooting:
On Friday September 01 2023 at approximately 1210 hrshrs Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana State Police, and Allen County Police Departments responded to reports of a shoo ting at Glenbrook Mall A male called stating he had been shot in the leg Dispatch received several more calls from bo th patronsand mall security about gunfire being heard in the mall near the fountain. When officers arrived, they located an adult male near the water fountain suffering a a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Several witnesses advised that the adult suspect had fled immediately after the incident occurred. No other victims were located. Based on witness statements, an altercation between two individuals lead to on e being shot. This is an ongoing nvestigation, however a t this time; this incident is not believed to be connected to the previous smilar incident . Glenbrook Mall has will remain closed for the remainder of today and will re – open tomorrow for normal business hours. This incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department and Allen County Prosecutors Office.
