ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – On August 20, 2023, at approximately 8:19 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Airport Expressway and Coverdale Road in reference to a personal injury crash involving two motor vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located two passenger cars involved in the crash, just west of the intersection. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department said that Airport Expressway was closed until the initial investigation was completed.
On Tuesday, the coroner released the identities of those who died in the crash.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified, and made notifications to the next of kin of the deceased individuals that were involved in a head-on collision in the 7800 block of Airport Expressway, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 20:29 hours, Sunday, August 20, 2023. They have been positively identified as Tracy Alan Tindall, male, White, age 50, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Michael Joseph Eberhard, male, White, age 45 of Yoder, Indiana.
Tracy Alan Tindall’s Cause of Death is Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash, and the Manner of Death is Accident Tracy Alan Tindall is the 24th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2023. Michael Joseph Eberhard’s Cause of Death is Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash, and the Manner of Death is Accident Michael Joseph Eberhard is the 25th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2023. The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Police Department, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
