COLUMBUS, Ohio (ADAMS) – Abortion proponents filed signatures yesterday, meaning a constitutional amendment to guarantee abortion rights in Ohio could be on the November ballot.
Supporters needed a minimum of just over 413,000 signatures to put the issue on the ballot, but Wednesday morning turned in over 700,000 signatures.
The proposed amendment to the state constitution would ensure every individual has a right to make and carry out their own reproductive decisions.
That includes abortion, contraception, and miscarriage care.
Elections officials across the state will now work to verify the signatures and then Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose will make a decision to put the amendment on the November ballot by July 25th.
