INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in Indiana will be banned from being able to lie to kids as part of their efforts to get confessions under a bill that is waiting for Governor Holcomb’s signature.
It passed the Indiana Senate by a unanimous 48-0 vote this week.
Any statement made by a juvenile during an interrogation would be inadmissible in court if the officer knowingly lied to them. If the officer believed the information to be true at the time, there is a good faith exemption.
