FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say an arrest has been made in connection to a fatal stabbing from last week.
Police say the 35-year-old woman was taken into custody Tuesday during a traffic stop.
It comes after Robert Lee Higginbotham III, 38, of Fort Wayne died after being stabbed. He was driven to Fort Wayne Fire Department Station 1 on October 13 and died a short time later at the hospital.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office said Higginbotham died of a stab wound to the torso and his death was ruled a homicide.
Now, the FWPD says that Christina Habegger faces a charge of murder in his death. Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, FWPD’s Vice and Narcotics Division, along with the homicide unit, arrested Habegger on the 1800 block of Kentucky Avenue during a traffic stop.
She is being held in the Allen County Jail.
The FWPD says officers were assisted by the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
On 10/18/2022 at 1006 Hours, the Fort Wayne Police Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Vice and Narcotics Division apprehended Christina Habegger in a traffic stop in the area of 1800 Kentucky Avenue. Christina was arrested for the stabbing death of Robert Higginbotham that occurred on 10/13/2022. Chrstina was transported to the Allen County Jail and charged with murder.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that a man is dead after being stabbed Thursday.
Police say he was dropped off downtown at Fire Station 1 on Main Street. According to police, he was taken there by a “colleague” just after 6 p.m. The driver said he found the man suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was taken to the hospital but pronounced deceased.
During the investigation, officers were led to a home in the 2200 block of Oliver. It is not yet confirmed if this is the location of the crime scene.
Police say they continue to investigate.
FWPD officials released the following:
On Thursday October 13th 2022 at approximately 1802 hrs, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to Fire Station One (419 E Main St) on reports of a stabbing.
An adult male was driven to this location by a colleague and was found to be suffering an apparent stab wound. Three Rivers Ambulance Authority transported the male to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. During the investigation Officers were led to a home in the 2200 block of Oliver. It is not yet determined if this is the location of the crime scene and is currently being processed for evidence.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim.
