FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Registration is now open for the 2022 Welcoming Fort Wayne Awards honoring outstanding immigrants and refugees and those who work to create a welcoming community.
The event, hosted by Amani Services, takes place during Welcoming Week at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 16 at Ivy Tech Community College, Coliseum Campus. Admission is free but registration is required. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and a light breakfast will be served.

The Welcoming Fort Wayne awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional immigrants and refugees, native community individuals, organizations, and companies that have demonstrated a strong commitment to multiculturalism. The awards are presented by Welcoming Fort Wayne, a chapter of Welcoming America and an initiative of Amani Family Services.
Three awards will be presented this year: Welcoming Organization, Lifetime Achiever, and Emerging Leader.
Community members are also encouraged to nominate deserving organizations and individuals to receive an award. Award nominations can be submitted until Friday, August 26 here.
“Our sense of belonging is tied to places and spaces that we live, work and rest in,” said Ewelina Connolly, CEO of Amani Family Services. “The Welcoming Fort Wayne Awards offers an opportunity to acknowledge those individuals and organizations who embody welcoming values and actively work to build a bridge between immigrants and refugees and the community at large.”
