FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Northrop High School alum and former NBA player Walter Jordan will host a basketball camp for middle and high school students at his alma mater June 13-16.
Jordan is the founder and executive director of Team Impact, an elite youth basketball organization based in Northwest Georgia. He is also the founder of Walter Jordan’s Youth Leadership Conference, an annual conference for young men. His work combines his passions: basketball and mentoring children and young adults.
The Walter Jordan Future Stars Hoops & Standards Day Camp will have its inaugural basketball day camp and leadership conference at Northrop for male and female students ages 11-17. From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. June 13-16, students will participate in basketball skills training and scrimmages as well as leadership lessons with special presentations by guest speakers. Special guests and guest speakers include Jordan; Dan Kline, former Indiana Tech basketball coach and athletic director; Mitch Sturm, founder of MVP Basketball; Katie Jackson, Northrop head girls basketball coach; Akilah Sims, Snider head girls basketball coach; Joe Jordan, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne; and Landon Turner, a motivational speaker and former Indiana University basketball star.
The camp is $165 for each student, which includes a camp T-shirt, lunch and an autographed copy of Jordan’s book, “Gracefully Broken.” FWCS students may be eligible to attend free of charge.
