GARRETT, Ind. (ADAMS) – A northern Indiana police chief is out, reportedly because of a botched death investigation.
Garrett’s mayor yesterday said he fired Police Chief Roland McPherson for the mistakes he made following a man’s 2020 death.
Investigators say the chief didn’t follow procedure while looking into the case.
Prosecutors say the investigation was ‘significantly compromised’ because of how the chief and his officers handled the man’s death. It took an Indiana State Police investigation to eventually find enough evidence against the man’s wife.
Prosecutors say a second person may have been involved in the man’s death, but they couldn’t bring charges because of the mistakes that were made.
