New developments are unfolding in Ukraine as the country’s fight for freedom begins its third week. Nearly 30,000 people managed to escape in the past 24 hours amid Russia gaining control of more cities. The capital is also under a new curfew. And in just hours, Ukraine’s president will make a plea to Congress for more help after meeting with three prime ministers. President Biden is expected to travel to Europe next week for a NATO summit.
Meanwhile, the White House is playing down sanctions from Russia. Press Secretary Jen Psaki told a briefing, “We will forge ahead.” President Biden is on the sanctions list, along with his son Hunter, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and current Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Psaki noted that Russia may have actually sanctioned Biden’s late father since the President is “a junior.”
