UPDATE (December 17, 2021):
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim in a shooting early Thursday morning close to downtown. Fort Wayne police say that a man was killed early Thursday morning in a shooting just west of downtown.
A little bit after midnight, officers were called to Howell Street on reports that a man had been shot and was sitting on a porch. However, when police arrived the man had run to a home on Richardson Street.
Officers and medics were able to locate the man, identified now as 24-year-old Tyler Onderma, and get him to a local hospital. Police say that he died as a result of his injuries at the hospital.
On Friday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the male victim that was found on a porch in the 1600 block of Richardson Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The decedent was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at approximately 00:21 hours. The decedent was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced. The decedent has been positively identified as Tyler L. Ondersma, a male, white, 24 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cause of Death has been determined to be multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Tyler L. Ondersma is the 45th Homicide in Fort Wayne, and Allen County for 2021.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that a man was killed early Thursday morning in a shooting just west of downtown.

Police say that he died as a result of his injuries at the hospital.
Right now, the FWPD is investigating the shooting and asking anyone with information to come forward.
Fort Wayne police officials released the following:
On December 16th, 2021 at approximately 12:21 AM dispatched received a call that an adult male was sitting on his porch at 1616 Howell St with a gunshot wound. When police arrived the victim was gone and ran to a nearby home on Richardson St. Medics and police arrived on Richardson St and immediately transported the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is being held by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
