FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Officials with the Fort Wayne Police Department say a call for domestic violence that turned into a standoff ended peacefully Monday night.
Officers responded to the 5000 block of Maplecrest around 9:30 p.m. after a wife said her husband became violent. She also reported that he was still inside the home with weapons and that he had made threats of self-harm.
After several hours and calls, the man exited the home and was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

On Monday October 11, 2021 at approximately 9:30 PM officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of Stellhorn and Maplecrest to meet with a female who advised that she was the victim of a domestic battery that had occurred at a residence located in the 5000 block of Maplecrest Road. The female victim told officers that her husband was inside the house and that there were weapons inside the house. Prior to leaving the residence, the victim stated that the male subject had made suicidal statements. Officers on the scene made several attempts to contact the male which were all unsuccessful.
At this time, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Units were dispatched to the scene. Officers with the Crisis Response Team were able to contact the male subject on his cell phone and asked him to come outside of the residence and surrender. After several hours of being inside the residence, the male subject exited the residence and surrendered. The male was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
